Spread Happiness, Ranch Style

lamaEvery person who volunteers, every child who signs up for Ranch Camp, every donation that comes our way is so important for us to keep our ranch thriving and giving back to the community. Our WE Yoga friend Roger recently wrote a post about his recent experience at TGMR with fellow WE Yoga YTT friends. The link to the full blog post can be found below.

We are looking for campers in 3-10 grade, sponsors, volunteers, and donations for Ranch Camp on June 22-26, July 13-17, and August 3-7. Your help is always appreciated.

Our story, as most stories often do, began with an idea. The idea was simple: How can we help those who are in need? So was the answer: The Gress Ranch. Animals helping people…People helping animals. Yoga Teacher Trainees helping them both.

So, Monday, Laura, Sarah, and I met at the Gress Ranch to see how we could help. As most of you have already heard, the ranch’s biggest priority right now is getting the word out, finding volunteers, and donations for the Summer Ranch Camp this year for kids entering 3rd-10th grades. A wonderful project where kids get to meet and learn about the animals at the ranch. Great fun for the kids. And honestly, a lot of fun for us adults too.

But, I learned something unexpected at the ranch Monday. Although I really want to help the children and the animals (my two soft spots) sometimes, helping those in need means helping the people behind the scenes. Those people who have invested so much or their time, their money, and–most importantly–their heart into helping others. Sometimes, life throws a wrench into things, like it did for Kathryn and Ben who couldn’t be at the ranch on Monday, and they needed a little help too…

Everybody has their part to play and sometimes, it’s a much more subtle part. An almost overlooked part yet, without that part, without volunteers to help with the running of the ranch, without that foundation in place, there’s nothing to build that framework of help and hope on…

TGMR is a little window of heaven in a busy world

entrance-for-tgmrThe Gress Mountain Ranch is a 501(c)(3) that serves as a sanctuary (“forever home”) for abused and neglected animals, both domestic and exotic.

The ranch is home to more than 85 animals that are utilized to provide therapy, education and volunteerism opportunities to disabled, at-risk, low-income and under-served populations.

The mission of the organization is to foster the mutual well-being of both people and animals by intertwining their lives through nurturing, learning, fun, and healing.
